Listen to the roar of the ocean,
Its constant tiding motion,
The way it lifts and sways just so,
Urging the water where to go.
Under starry nighttime sky,
Two walk tangent you and I.
To a single boat of wood,
Knowing what should not and should.
Pressing softly against the sea,
Two people ride, you and me.
You rowing, and I looking on,
Wondering where the love has gone.
Ripples spread without direction,
On and on, without deception.
Saying, “Here am I! Do you,”
Wishing, “Do you ripple too?”
But no object in the night
Sends a reply into their sight.
They ripple on without reply,
Continuously from you and I.
